Certified Detailer
Rob Collins has been in the fabrication industry since 1974. Starting in a fabrication shop as a fitters helper he quickly graduated to first class fitter. Rob worked in the shop for four years as a first class fitter/welder gaining valuable insight into the fabrication process. After learning the business from the shop level he moved into the office where he was responsible for estimating projects and doing minor detailing.
Rob also became familiar with the erection process by working as the shop coordinator in the field, working directly with the steel erectors. During this period Rob also completed college courses providing him with a degree in structural drafting. Rob began detailing full-time in 1981. Rob is also an N.I.S.D. certified detailer. He worked with the first automated detailing company in Baton Rouge, using the Sun System program.
Rob began working full-time as a self employed detailer. In 1989 it became evident to Rob that computerized detailing was the wave of the future. He formed CompuSteel Detailing Inc. and started working with the SDS/2 system. Rob has a reputation in the field as being a knowledgeable, precise and professional detailer.
Having been involved in all aspects of the steel fabrication industry he has a complete understanding and appreciation for accurate shop details. Rob is also an accomplished computer technician, building his own, and maintaining the company computers. He is dedicated to computer detailing and is on the leading edge with electronic transfers and computer data manipulation.
